This is a classic tour that we organize for many years, after some mistakes we learnt how to work in group (travel agency and the community of Amantani). There is a lot of controversy about this low-priced tour group because it does not pay fairly to the locals for their food and home stay services, that´s why today you decide to pay the lodging straight to the family or to us, the last year the price for this lodging in family house is 30 soles, per person.
On this island Amantani people have also a Quechua origin and they are mainly small farmers. The most important crops in Amantani are Andean potatoes, The "Amantaneños" probably are one of kindest people over lake Titicaca, which is amazing that living on the island most of them are not fishermen.
The houses are very simple and services are basic. There is no running water, no electricity and of course no toilets or showers. For many people this is a home-stay experience and encounter with the host family.
